Plans are afoot for two events …

On Sunday 16th March from 10am, in Longtown Village Hall, HR2 0LD, society members and volunteers invite you to enjoy a hands-on activities day, including:

  • displays of fascinating local history documents and photographs from various sources, including images of the castle excavations and the Olchon Court prehistoric burial excavation

  • dramatic light-detection and ranging (LIDAR) images of Longtown’s two castles

  • a display of local archaeological discoveries including early ceramics, some of which local potter Ruth Watkins will reproduce from local clay, fired and glazed to share

  • a projector providing a changing backdrop of local stories and images from the past

  • local historian Martin Cooke is offering a historical tour of Longtown and the vicinity

  • artist Anna Knight will show her photographs of the area

  • a display of historic coins and currency related to Herefordshire

  • traditional field names maps, and a mix of maps over time

On the 21st March you can attend an evening event from 7pm, at Craswall Village Hall and offer further relevant displays and activities. HOW TO GET THERE: Satnav: Craswall, Hereford HR2 0PH
